Could you stroke a snake?

The slithery snake was just inches away, tongue flicking and eyes peering … a little close for comfort … it was OK though, he was in very capable hands! Phew!!!

DSC_3070 web sq_SnapseedYes, just one of the extra special guests at yesterday’s Open Day , in celebration of

Basepoint Business Centres 20th Anniversary.

Our home for the day was next to the rather impressive-looking bouncy castle, which proved a big hit, BTW 🙂

We arrived bright and early to set up and got busy putting up our bunting, balloons, oh and Mickey and Minnie Mouse (yes, really) at our stand and laying out all our goodie bags and other giveaways (which also got a big thumbs up, pleased to say!)

Then I grabbed the camera to capture highlights as the day unfolded.

Starting with the official opening by The Mayor of Test Valley.

Basepoint supports several local charities, and the proceeds of the day were for these good causes. Three of the charities were there and it was great to chat with them.

The aforementioned snake was bought along by Down to Earth Community Farm and Education Centre http://www.downtoearthfarm.org/ along with some chicks, guinea pigs, and a very adorable mini hedgehog. I wasn’t quite brave enough to hold the snake, but with some trepidation I did give it a little stroke, albeit for maybe less than a second!

I then met the lovely Dennis, an 18 year old pony belonging to The Friends of Hampshire Riding Therapy Centre http://www.hampshire-riding-therapy-centre.org.uk/ Dennis dutifully posed for the camera (with maybe just a teeny bit of coaxing 😉 ) as did the gorgeous Jack Russell, Cookie.

More very distinguished guests were brought along by The Liberty Centre in Ringwood http://www.libertyscentre.co.uk/ These birds of prey are truely mesmerising! The guys from the Liberty Centre did an interesting talk about these fascinating birds later in the day.

It was very pleasant wandering round the various stalls on such a lovely summer’s day, and being spoilt for choice with the tasty food on offer.

Brilliant live music in the gorgeous sunshine was the icing on the cake, and the afternoon drew to a close with an amazing martial arts display.

It was lovely to meet everyone and be part of this very special occasion. Great to see some familiar faces visiting too, thank you so much for coming along – hoping you enjoyed yourselves!

And thank you sun for shining brightly all day 🙂
